Staff IT Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in the San Francisco office, United States

Salary: $200,000–$240,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable workflow automation for onboarding, offboarding, access requests, compliance enforcement, and self-service IT support.
• Build robust integrations between enterprise systems using REST and GraphQL APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Automate identity and access management, including role assignment, least-privilege policies, and audit-friendly authentication and authorization logging.
• Architect secure enterprise data platforms for high-volume collection, normalization, reporting, audits, and analytics.
• Own deployment and lifecycle management of business systems and custom applications, from architecture and vendor evaluation through implementation and support.
• Establish engineering standards, lead code reviews, document architectures, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in IT Engineering, IT Applications Development, or DevOps, including at least 5 years in large-scale enterprise automation.
• Deep hands-on experience with cloud automation and governance across GCP, AWS, and/or Azure, including Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Strong programming skills in at least one modern language; Python experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs, relational databases, and SQL.
• Experience designing and managing automation platforms such as n8n, SOAR, Ansible, Workato, or custom frameworks.
• Experience in regulated industries and familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, or equivalent compliance frameworks, plus the ability to communicate with technical and executive stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience applying agentic AI or machine learning models to IT automation, including proactive issue detection, intelligent routing, or NLP.
