Head of Forward Deployed Engineering (AI)

Location: San Francisco, hybrid; willingness to travel to customer sites and be embedded with healthcare organizations during critical implementations.

Salary: $210K–$300K base salary plus equity.

What you will do

• Scale the Forward Deployed Engineering organization from a small team to 10+ engineers through hiring, coaching, and development.
• Own end-to-end technical delivery for strategic healthcare customers.
• Lead technical implementations, custom EHR integrations, and workflow builds for health system deployments.
• Partner with engineering, product, and customer success to translate customer needs into scalable solutions.
• Establish deployment patterns, best practices, and internal tooling to improve implementation efficiency.
• Drive the field-to-product feedback loop, lead technical discovery, and debug production issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years leading customer-facing technical teams.
• Experience scaling technical implementation or deployment teams in fast-growing B2B or enterprise software companies.
• Strong technical fundamentals with hands-on experience designing, building, and debugging production systems.
• Ability to balance customer needs, technical feasibility, and engineering velocity while choosing between custom and platform solutions.
• Experience creating repeatable processes and tooling for implementation work.
• Exceptional communication skills with healthcare executives, technical teams, and internal stakeholders.
