Corporate Counsel (AI/Robotics)

Location: Must be based in San Mateo, CA (On-site)

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including strategic partnerships, customer contracts, and SOWs.
• Support corporate governance, fundraising, board matters, and complex financing transactions.
• Advise on legal issues related to AI technology, including training data, data-use rights, and intellectual property.
• Build scalable legal infrastructure, including templates, playbooks, and internal policies.
• Serve as a practical legal advisor, translating complex risks into clear recommendations for engineering and research teams.

Requirements

• JD and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 6–10+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally at a technology company or tech-focused law firm.
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial technology agreements.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex legal issues without significant supervision.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical legal concepts to non-lawyers.

Nice to have

• In-house experience at an AI, machine learning, or robotics growth-stage startup.
• Experience leading complex strategic transactions, financings, or acquisitions.
• Familiarity with commercial and legal practices regarding generative AI and LLM-related transactions.
