Legal Counsel (AI)

Location: New York City, New York, United States; on-site

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year, plus significant equity

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex B2B SaaS agreements with major law firms and technology enterprises.
• Advise AI researchers and engineers on product development, risk management, and responsible use of AI.
• Guide privacy, security, and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including GDPR and CCPA.
• Build scalable legal policies and processes to support growth from hundreds of teams to thousands.
• Develop creative solutions for novel legal issues involving generative AI.
• Partner with the General Counsel, CEO, CTO, and broader leadership team on the US expansion.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and qualification to practice in New York.
• 5+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in a high-growth in-house legal environment.
• Proven experience negotiating complex B2B SaaS agreements.
• Exceptional legal writing and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions across time zones, and take ownership of outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI regulation and product counseling.
• Background in IT security, data privacy, or corporate law.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO.
