Line Mechanic (East Hampton, CT)

Location: East Hampton, Connecticut; candidates must live within one hour of the reporting location and be available at the reporting base within approximately 30 minutes during trouble call assignments.

Salary: Starts at $56.32 per hour and progresses according to the union contract.

What you will do

• Construct, operate, and maintain the electric distribution system.
• Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment.
• Work on utility poles and ground- or pad-mounted structures.
• Perform rubber gloving on high-voltage distribution systems up to 23KV.
• Direct coworkers when assigned and respond to trouble calls, emergencies, overtime, and restoration work.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of line mechanic experience.
• Ability to climb poles skillfully using lineman’s climbers and perform the essential physical duties.
• Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and direct their work.
• Ability to hold and possess a Commercial Driver’s License; a valid CDL and clean driving record are preferred.
• Must be able to live within one hour of the reporting location. Visa sponsorship is not available.
