Station Electrician C - A

Location: Bluefield, Virginia; must live within a 45-minute normal driving distance of the Bluefield Transmission Service Center at 1188 Hockman Pike.

Salary: $31.33/hour for Station Electrician C, $38.83/hour for Station Electrician B, and $58.62/hour for Station Electrician A.

What you will do

• Construct, maintain, rebuild, remove, operate, test, and inspect energized and de-energized generation, transmission, and distribution facilities.
• Maintain and repair station transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, rotating machinery, batteries, network protectors, and related equipment.
• Perform electrical testing, inspections, switching, grounding, equipment clearances, and abnormal-condition reporting.
• Install conduit, cable, wire, controls, communication systems, station structures, safety barriers, and associated equipment.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and support prompt restoration of service to customers.
• Operate company vehicles, cranes, aerial lifts, generators, pumps, hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment.

Requirements

• Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance technology, or qualifying military or technical experience.
• Station Electrician C requires no prior work experience; higher grades require 24 months of satisfactory experience in the preceding classification or equivalent.
• Valid Class A commercial driver's license is required for Station Electrician B and A and must be obtained as required for the C classification.
• Ability to interpret prints, drawings, instruction manuals, one-line diagrams, and related documents.
• Availability for overtime, call-out overtime, shift work, and travel expected to exceed 50% of working time.
• Ability to climb structures 50 feet or higher and successfully complete the Physical Abilities Test, required training, and safety qualifications.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-voltage station equipment, transformer testing, SF6 gas processing, oil handling, or live-line tools.
• Knowledge of steel and aerial lift rescue, station knots, first aid, and resuscitation procedures.
