Line Mechanic D (Electrical Transmission and Distribution)

Location: Columbus, Ohio; must live or be willing to relocate within 45 miles of the Columbus SW Service Center.

Salary: $28.31–$29.76 per hour.

What you will do

• Assist with installing, maintaining, inspecting, rearranging, and removing overhead and underground transmission and distribution facilities.
• Perform ground-person duties and assist with poles, towers, structures, conductors, fixtures, and line hardware under supervision.
• Operate line trucks and auxiliary equipment, with progression to digger/derrick and aerial devices after completing required classifications.
• Splice primary and secondary overhead wires and use crimping, compression, rope, and rigging equipment.
• Inspect and maintain tools, vehicles, personal protective equipment, work areas, and job-site safety controls.
• Maintain records, submit reports, read meter data, complete apprentice cards, and perform pole-top and bucket-truck rescue procedures as trained.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No prior experience required; line-work experience or line-school education is preferred.
• Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain required licensing; CDL beginner's permit required within 60 days.
• Ability and willingness to acquire the knowledge and skills required for advancement through the line mechanic progression.
• Successful completion of the HireVue Line Worker Virtual Job Tryout with recommended results and a physical abilities assessment.
• Must live or be willing to relocate within 45 miles of the Columbus SW Service Center.
