Senior Avionics Test Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time onsite position

What you will do

• Design, build, commission, troubleshoot, and debug avionics test systems and associated electronics hardware.
• Capture test requirements with responsible engineers and develop component- and system-level test cases.
• Implement test cases, validate outputs with internal stakeholders, and lead avionics test system design reviews.
• Support the architecture and local implementation of hirify.global’s automated test framework.
• Develop interfaces for co-simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop applications with subject matter experts.
• Produce test-system documentation, support operator handover, and coach wider-team troubleshooting efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or another hard science.
• At least 2 years of post-bachelor’s experience developing and working with hardware test systems.
• At least 1 year of experience with C++ or Python.
• Experience operating and maintaining Linux systems, including command-line tools.
• Experience designing and building systems with a modular DAQ ecosystem, such as NI, Weidmuller, or Beckhoff.
• Familiarity with electrical and wiring concepts, grounding, and electrical safety; ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and work evenings or weekends during critical mission milestones.

Nice to have

• Experience with product testing, space-system testing protocols, and standards.
• Experience coordinating or supervising other engineers and developing Python applications.
• Familiarity with Git, CMake, GNU tools, CI/CD, issue tracking, and GitHub.
• Experience with embedded systems, Linux kernel software and drivers, network programming, and safety-critical or fault-tolerant software.
• Experience with spacecraft, aircraft, autonomous vehicles, satellite communications, telemetry systems, or electronic test equipment.
