TL;DR
Senior Functional Analyst (JIRA): Capturing, analyzing, and managing business and technical requirements for Agile software development teams with an accent on SAFe, backlog management, traceability, and stakeholder communication. Focus on elaborating user stories, defining acceptance criteria, coordinating with systems engineers, and controlling requirements changes across product and project lifecycles.

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered.

Salary: $78,167–$103,855 per year

What you will do

  • Lead the capture, analysis, documentation, validation, and change control of business, functional, technical, and non-technical requirements.
  • Use JIRA and other ALM capabilities to manage epics, sub-epics, user stories, backlogs, acceptance criteria, testing, defects, and traceability.
  • Conduct user interviews, facilitate requirements and backlog refinement sessions, and develop business process models and formal specifications.
  • Coordinate with customers, product and business owners, systems engineers, developers, stakeholders, and contractors to assess solution impacts and clarify requirements.
  • Track project risks, issues, impediments, execution metrics, configuration items, and requirements across the Agile product development lifecycle using SAFe.
  • Serve as a product functional SME, mentor junior analysts, support Sprint teams, and deliver project documentation to the client.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required; candidates must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) clearance.
  • Ten years of professional experience; a Master’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific or technical discipline is required, with additional experience potentially substituting for education.
  • Strong background in software development and Agile or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies, including experience with large Agile software development or data integration projects.
  • Expertise with JIRA, advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills, and strong analytical, research, problem-solving, written, and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to customers, management, and non-technical audiences while integrating information from multiple sources.
  • Must be able to work remotely from the United States, excluding California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington.

Nice to have

  • Experience in an Agile environment and working knowledge of the VA Veterans Independence Program.
  • VA SQA testing experience or experience working for a federal health agency such as VA, DHA, or HHS.
  • Certified Scrum Master or Professional Scrum Master certification.
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing and claims processing applications.
