Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote from Kazakhstan, Armenia, Cyprus, or Uzbekistan. Core collaboration hours are 12:00–6:00 PM Manila Time (UTC+8). Company-sponsored trips to Manila may be required for in-person team work.

Technology-driven financial company building a banking and lending platform across Southeast Asia, starting in the Philippines.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for the ATM middleware platform.
• Develop real-time transaction flows between ATM hardware and backend systems, including authorization, reversals, and reconciliation.
• Own ISO 8583 message flows between the ATM fleet and processing switch.
• Integrate with HSM systems for PIN translation, key management, and cryptographic operations.
• Build integrations with card schemes, the ATM middleware vendor, anti-fraud systems, and core banking services.
• Monitor production ATM transaction services and investigate and resolve incidents.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Software or Backend Engineer, ideally in fintech, banking, or payment processing.
• Experience with microservice architecture, API design, and building system integrations from scratch.
• Knowledge of ISO 8583 or similar financial messaging protocols.
• Experience with AWS, EKS, containerized deployments, and GitLab/GitOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills for data analysis and validation.
• English at B2 level or higher, with strong written and verbal communication.
