Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote from any location; convenient office available in Chicago, IL

What you will do

• Design, develop, modify, refactor, and scale software systems.
• Build features for customer communication, identity, decision systems, or portfolio management.
• Integrate products with external systems, including payment processing services.
• Analyze user needs and translate business requirements into usable, scalable software.
• Lead design and code reviews and contribute to the engineering vision and roadmap.
• Collaborate with developers, QA, Product Managers, and technical leads across teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience with non-trivial web applications.
• 3+ years of Ruby on Rails experience.
• Experience designing relational data models.
• Ability to make technical decisions aligned with business goals and break down large initiatives into incremental deliverables.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams on complex problems.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hotwire Turbo, Stimulus, or Tailwind.
• Advanced SQL experience for investigating complex issues or creating reports.
• Strong frontend or infrastructure/DevOps experience.
• Prior fintech experience.
