Employment Consultant (Fixed Term until March 2027)

Location: In office in Brampton, Ontario, Canada

What you will do

• Manage an assigned caseload of clients facing multiple barriers to employment and work toward contract deliverables and performance indicators.
• Conduct client assessments and document employment-related strengths, needs, abilities, and skills.
• Develop individualized Employment Action Plans and provide vocational advice, job-search training, skill development, and work preparation.
• Build relationships with community stakeholders, generate referrals, and connect clients with appropriate community resources and employers.
• Visit employers, resolve issues affecting employment, arrange accommodations, and coordinate job-retention and on-the-job training.
• Maintain regular face-to-face contact while providing welcoming, safe, professional, and confidential services.

Requirements

• Experience conducting and interpreting client assessments, coaching and mentoring clients, and supporting people with complex employment barriers and diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources, government programs, job-search techniques, career development, and unemployment-related issues.
• Strong documentation, report writing, interviewing, assessment, resume writing, vocational counselling, and individualized planning skills.
• Understanding of confidentiality and professional codes of conduct, with strong digital literacy including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work shifts, evenings, and outside regular business hours when required.
• Employment is conditional on obtaining a criminal record check.

Nice to have

• Post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma in career development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education, human resources, or a related field.
• Experience connecting clients and employers based on mutual needs and benefits.
• Certified Career Development Practitioner certification.
• Bilingual English and French communication skills.
