Systems Engineer III (Motion Control)

Location: Irvine, California, United States. The role requires work in office, engineering lab, production, or customer environments and includes up to 30% travel.

Salary: $117,920–$176,300 per year, depending on the geographic market.

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and implement complex motion products and systems.
• Translate customer and application needs into technical requirements and system-level solutions.
• Support system architecture decisions, product integration, performance optimization, and problem resolution.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and operational risks.
• Define and execute verification and validation activities and provide technical guidance to cross-functional engineering teams.
• Travel for customer engagements, supplier visits, internal reviews, product development, and cross-site collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, motion control, mechatronics, automation, or related product development.
• Strong understanding of stepper, servo, and piezo motion systems, linear and rotary encoders, motor drivers, controllers, communication protocols, and related software applications.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems, make engineering decisions, manage ambiguity, and collaborate across functions.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, mentoring, influencing, prioritization, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to work safely in lab, production, office, and customer environments, including occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and extended periods of standing.
