TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer II (Controls) (Manufacturing Automation): Supporting and improving production equipment, manufacturing processes, and control systems with an accent on PLCs, electrical systems, automation, and equipment reliability. Focus on troubleshooting machine stoppages, designing and documenting control systems, validating equipment, and increasing OEE, throughput, and operational reliability.

Location: Hybrid role based in North Haven, Connecticut, United States; up to 5% domestic travel to manufacturing sites and supplier locations. Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for this role.

Salary: $83,200–$124,800 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

  • Support maintenance, manufacturing, and operations teams with production equipment and process issues.
  • Troubleshoot machine stoppages across PLC, CNC, PC-based control, vision, robotics, and motion systems.
  • Research, design, test, and document electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
  • Create and update electrical schematics, bills of material, and equipment documentation in AutoCAD.
  • Develop equipment specifications, review vendor quotes, and participate in design reviews, supplier qualification, installation, and commissioning.
  • Implement process improvements and participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, machine risk assessments, and CTQ activities to improve OEE, throughput, quality, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with no minimum experience requirement.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment troubleshooting, conventional diagnostic tools, and PLC software.
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics, control drawings, electrical and controls design, and applicable safety standards.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, engineering, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required; U.S. sponsorship is not available for roles below Principal level.
  • Foreign bachelor’s degrees must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Nice to have

  • Experience with Mitsubishi, Rockwell, GuardLogix, CompactLogix, or ControlLogix PLC platforms.
  • Experience with HMI, vision inspection, robotics, motion control, automated assembly equipment, and machine risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and OSHA compliance requirements.
