Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration (HVAC/R)

Location: Monroe, Louisiana, United States; onsite at a Walmart Supercenter

Hourly wage: $35.00–$70.00 per hour, with possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Oversee installation, commissioning, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems.
• Manage supermarket refrigeration equipment, including rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, controls, ductwork, and building pneumatics.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant-handling protocols, environmental requirements, and federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
• Lead field technicians, coordinate assignments, provide hands-on training, mentor associates, and manage escalated service issues.
• Manage refrigerant levels, parts inventory, vendors, service calls, regional workloads, work orders, and maintenance documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotations, special projects, process improvements, vehicle maintenance, and cross-functional facility initiatives.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in HVAC or grocery rack refrigeration, or 6 years plus an Associate of Applied Science in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
• HVAC/R or mechanical journeyman qualification where required.
• Experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related area, or 2 years of Walmart store experience.
• Valid state-issued driver's license, acceptable motor vehicle report, and compliant commercial driving record.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and safely drive and maintain company vehicles.

Nice to have

• Completion of a two-year technical or vocational HVAC/R program or an associate degree in air conditioning and refrigeration.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and office productivity software.
• Experience with glycol and CO2 systems.
