Lead Software Engineer (Java/Spring Boot)

Location: Remote within the United States, with candidates required to reside within a 60-minute commute of Louisville, KY; Dallas/Frisco, TX; Tampa/Ft. Lauderdale, FL; or Nashville, TN, or be willing to relocate to one of these metropolitan areas. Occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $129,300–$177,800 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor software engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Architect, build, test, and continuously deliver features for modernized healthcare claims ecosystems.
• Design and develop cloud-based enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs.
• Oversee testing and debugging, investigate complex software issues, and develop fixes and recommendations.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, design principles, security, maintainability, and quality guidelines.
• Advise leaders on functional strategies and make independent decisions on complex technical issues.

Requirements

• Must be based within commuting distance of one of the specified U.S. metropolitan areas or be willing to relocate to one of them.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 8 years of progressive IT experience as a senior developer, including at least 2 years of project leadership and 5 years designing, developing, and testing software applications or infrastructure.
• Strong software development foundation, including architecture, design patterns, problem-solving, communication, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, REST API development, microservices architecture, NoSQL databases, and public cloud platforms, especially Azure.
• Experience with DevOps processes, CI/CD, automation, and Scrum/Agile delivery; familiarity with AI code-assist tools and responsible AI-assisted engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or Azure certification.
• Experience with both frontend and backend development, including Angular or React.
• Kafka-based event-driven solutions and Kubernetes or containerization.
