Senior Power Electronics Test & Validation Engineer (Power Electronics)

hirify.global is a startup developing scalable power-electronics hardware, including solid-state transformers, inverters, and rectifiers for renewable energy, storage, loads, and grid electrification.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end application testing of the SuperBBU high-C-rate battery pack with Heron’s solid-state transformer, validating ripple mitigation, backup capability, slew rates, and power-loss profiles.
• Support solid-state transformer and utility-scale BESS integration testing at pilot sites, including EMS communication, black start, grid-forming coordination, charge/discharge cycling, and round-trip efficiency.
• Integrate the solid-state transformer with commercial DAS, SCADA, and EMS systems.
• Lead pilot deployments, review field performance, identify feature gaps, and collaborate with software and firmware teams on product improvements.
• Write and maintain Python-based test automation for commanding converters, sequencing tests, logging data, and replacing manual procedures with repeatable test loops.
• Operate high-power converters, chillers, contactors, and protection hardware while setting up cabling, instrumentation, and data acquisition.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics, energy storage, EV, grid, or a comparable hardware-intensive environment.
• Strong understanding of DC circuits, including resonances, parasitics, slew rates, and inductive spikes, with the ability to correlate test data with simulation results.
• Strong scripting and test-automation skills for driving instruments and power converters and for logging and analyzing data.
• Working knowledge of inverters, converters, battery systems, BMS, DC pre-charge, contactors, protection, and thermal and cooling loops.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, DAQ systems, CAN, Modbus TCP, and circuit or system simulation tools such as LTspice, Simscape, or PLECS.
• Experience with solid-state transformers or grid-forming inverters, utility-scale BESS commissioning, grid-support functions, EMS integration, or systems-level testing of power-electronics or energy-storage products.
