Avionics Internship, Power Electronics (Spring or Summer 2027)

hirify.global is a fast-growing aerospace startup manufacturing satellite buses at scale for commercial spacecraft applications.

What you will do

• Design, build, and test isolated and non-isolated power converters for high-reliability spacecraft applications.
• Simulate power stages in SPICE and model plants for defined converter topologies and control techniques.
• Design and tune analog or digital control loops, including voltage, peak-current, and average-current modes.
• Create schematics, select components, and develop auxiliary converter features.
• Place and route components in Altium for optimized board layouts.
• Perform board-level bench testing and specialized EMI/EMC, control-loop, and power-converter verification.

Requirements

• Graduation timing: Fall 2027 or Spring 2028; MS graduates are preferred.
• Pursuing a BS or MS in power electronics, embedded systems, or control.
• Proficiency with LTspice, Altium, MathWorks tools, and C2000 microcontrollers.
• Availability for a 12-week internship; Spring interns must be able to pause or adjust academic commitments during the program.
• Relevant coursework includes power electronics, linear or continuous control, and motor drives.

Nice to have

• Participation in student project teams such as Formula SAE.
• Experience with motor controller development.
