Senior Project Manager (Data Engineering)

What you will do

• Lead large, complex data engineering and analytics initiatives from initiation through delivery.
• Apply traditional and agile delivery methods, including project plans, governance, RAID logs, backlog refinement, Kanban, sprint routines, and iterative checkpoints.
• Coordinate dependencies, commitments, risks, resources, vendors, and stakeholders across multiple technical and business teams.
• Partner with Product Owners to prioritize backlogs and improve delivery visibility, planning, metrics, and team health.
• Communicate complex data pipelines, delivery status, trade-offs, and risks to engineers, sponsors, steering committees, and senior leadership.
• Use data platform literacy to scope programs and evaluate cloud, pipeline, warehouse, and BI-related delivery plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
• At least 7 years of project or program management experience, including 4–5 years in data engineering, data management, or analytics.
• Experience leading large, cross-functional projects with multiple teams, senior stakeholders, technical dependencies, and high business visibility.
• Strong knowledge of scope, schedule, budget, RAID logs, risk and issue management, dependency tracking, stakeholder communication, and agile delivery.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or similar program management tools, including portfolio-level tracking and documentation.
• Experience with organizational change management, communication planning, implementation coordination, production readiness, and operational handoffs.

Nice to have

• Previous experience as a Data Engineer or Data Engineering Manager.
• PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, PSM, SAFe, or similar certification.
