Electrician Fully Qualified (East Hampton, CT)

Location: East Hampton, Connecticut, United States; onsite work indoors and outdoors, with on-call, overtime, storm restoration, and emergency assignments.

Salary: Starts at $54.96 per hour and progresses according to the union contract.

What you will do

• Inspect, maintain, repair, install, and operate substations, switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, voltage regulators, and related electrical equipment.
• Perform electrical testing using meggers, ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, DLRO equipment, gas quality meters, and other standard instruments.
• Carry out switching and tagging, recloser programming, network testing, cable testing, relay and control circuit work, and transformer connections.
• Work with energized conductors, electrical bus work, conduit, insulators, conductors, fuses, disconnects, and rotating equipment using required protective equipment.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, one-line and three-line diagrams, blueprints, plans, and schematics; identify and report abnormal conditions.
• Support emergency restoration, train electrician helpers, escort non-qualified personnel, maintain grounds and buildings, and safely operate company vehicles.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in the Time Merit Progression program for electricians, or five years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional formal education is preferred.
• New hires must hold an Electrician E-1 or E-2 license, or provide documented qualification, training, and relevant utility experience; other candidates must complete the electrician TMP.
• Experience in energy delivery, distribution, or transmission systems is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid CDL license and Switching and Tagging certification.
• Must successfully pass the CAST Construction and Skilled Trades Selection System Test. Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly, climb structures and ladders, and work around energized equipment and in adverse weather conditions.
