Salary: $23.684–$29.604 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

’s Office of Student Engagement supports agricultural research, production, and educational programs through the Northern Agricultural Research Center.
What you will do
- Support daily livestock and farm operations, including cattle feeding, calving, breeding, weaning, pasture moves, watering, pen cleaning, and facility maintenance.
- Participate in hay and crop production activities, including seeding, spraying, irrigating, raking, baling, and harvesting.
- Operate, maintain, schedule, and help repair farm, ranch, haying, and heavy equipment.
- Implement livestock research studies, process feedlot rations, determine feed rates, collect feed samples, and maintain accurate production and research records.
- Supervise student and temporary employees and assist with employee training and safety meetings.
- Coordinate with faculty, research professionals, operations managers, agricultural producers, and other research collaborators.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Animal Science, Range Sciences, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience with cattle handling, behavior, husbandry, and modern livestock management.
- Experience managing agricultural facilities and operating, maintaining, and repairing farm and ranch equipment.
- Experience supervising employees, primarily undergraduate student employees.
- Experience producing feedstuffs and irrigated and dryland hay, including operating associated equipment.
- Must have or be able to obtain an agricultural pesticide license and hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Work may include evenings, weekends, travel, extreme weather, hazardous machinery, pesticides, livestock, horseback riding, and elevated positions.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Crop Science, Ag Mechanics, or a related field.
- Experience as an agricultural or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Experience with budgets, agricultural research, low-stress cattle handling, and university purchasing procedures.
