Customs Brokerage Specialist (Logistics)

Location: Hybrid position based in the San Francisco office, with attendance required three times per week.

Pay: $25.37–$35.51 USD per hour

What you will do

• Provide customer service and resolve issues to support the timely release and movement of freight and cargo.
• Prepare, analyze, and submit documentation to U.S. Customs, agents, and clients in compliance with customs and transportation regulations.
• Identify and resolve problems involving shipments, banking, letters of credit, payment terms, billing, invoicing, and vendor payments.
• Maintain relationships with customers, correspondent brokers, service providers, and operating divisions.
• Complete accurate data entry and corrections, collect delinquent payments, and prepare accounting adjustment forms.
• Research and negotiate carrier rates, provide freight quotes, and coordinate post-entry activities where applicable.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 12 months of brokerage, transportation, and/or customer service experience required.
• Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, federal transportation requirements, and HTS classification and the Harmonized Tariff System.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and standard office equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and basic math skills.
• Ability to handle high-volume, time-sensitive work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• One and a half years of relevant work or field experience.
• Knowledge of regulations related to air, ocean, surface, or customs brokerage operations, including dangerous goods and international trade requirements.
