Summer Internship - Customs Operations (Logistics)

Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States; 100% onsite

Salary: $24–$39.75 per hour, based on degree program and year in school.

An aerospace and defense organization providing aviation, aerospace, and defense solutions, with the role supporting customs and compliance operations.

What you will do

• Coordinate communication between warehouse operations and customs compliance teams.
• Review and organize import/export declarations, commercial invoices, packing lists, and classification documentation.
• Document, update, and standardize customs-processing procedures.
• Resolve day-to-day customs issues, including HTS code discrepancies and incomplete paperwork.
• Audit warehouse transaction data for accuracy before customs submission.
• Support strategic projects focused on operational efficiency, data integrity, and procedure standardization.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program at an accredited institution.
• Must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship or work authorization support.
• Effective written and verbal English communication is required.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, prioritization, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace applications, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail.

Nice to have

• Studies or recent graduation in supply chain management, logistics, international business, law, or a related field.
• Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, international trade, customs regulations, Incoterms, or HTS classification.
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables, or experience with SAP or similar systems.
• Experience with cross-functional communication or detailed procedure documentation.
