Senior Director, Scientific Communications (Biotech)

Location: Remote, based in San Francisco, California; approximately 20–30% travel for internal meetings, scientific congresses, and external scientific engagements.

What you will do

• Lead the scientific communications strategy across the clinical-stage non-opioid pain portfolio.
• Develop and maintain the scientific narrative and communications platform for the portfolio.
• Lead publication planning and execution, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations.
• Develop and execute scientific congress strategy, including data prioritization and sequencing.
• Create scientific platforms, core medical decks, FAQs, field medical resources, dossiers, and other medical content.
• Partner with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, authors, investigators, opinion leaders, and external agencies to deliver accurate, compliant, and timely communications.

Requirements

• Advanced scientific or healthcare degree such as PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred.
• 8+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience, including significant experience in Scientific Communications, Publications, or Medical Affairs.
• Experience developing and executing global publication and scientific communications strategies.
• Strong track record in manuscripts, abstracts, congress presentations, scientific platforms, and medical materials.
• Experience working with external authors, opinion leaders, publication agencies, and medical writing partners.
• Strong scientific writing, communication, project management, cross-functional leadership, and execution skills.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting late-stage development, pre-launch, or launch activities.
• Scientific expertise in pain, neuroscience, or a related therapeutic area.
• Understanding of publication standards and good publication practices.
• Experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial biotech environment.
