TL;DR
Associate - Energy (Mid-Level) (Nuclear & Fusion Energy): Supporting complex energy, infrastructure, commercial, and finance matters with an accent on nuclear, fusion, advanced reactor, and regulated infrastructure projects. Focus on drafting and negotiating project agreements, managing substantive legal workstreams, and addressing regulatory, licensing, compliance, and export control issues.

Location: Washington, DC, United States

Salary: $260,000–$365,000 per year

What you will do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, procurement, development, supply, and other project agreements.
  • Support energy project development, financing, commercial transactions, and nuclear fuel and supply arrangements.
  • Work on advanced nuclear, small modular reactor, fusion, and other emerging energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Support regulatory, licensing, adjudicatory, appellate, compliance, and export control matters.
  • Manage substantive workstreams and assume increasing responsibility for matters and client relationships.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practices and offices on complex domestic and international matters.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor or foreign equivalent; an LL.M. may be considered in lieu of a J.D.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant legal experience in complex transactions, energy, infrastructure, project development, project finance, commercial contracting, or related work.
  • Admission to and good standing with the District of Columbia Bar, or eligibility to waive in.
  • Strong analytical, research, drafting, legal writing, judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities, and maintain professional ethics and conduct standards.
  • Excellent academic credentials.

Nice to have

  • Experience at an Am Law 100 firm.
  • Experience with nuclear energy, advanced reactors, fusion, or highly regulated infrastructure.
  • Military experience or security clearances.
  • Engineering or other technical background.
