Product Manager, Digital for Research and Tech Dev (Benchling/AI)

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States. Only U.S. persons are eligible due to U.S. export control requirements; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $121,600–$194,500 per year, with potential eligibility for bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Partner with Research and Technical Development scientists to understand workflows and software use cases.
• Translate scientific requirements into user stories, system designs, data models, release documentation, and scalable product solutions.
• Manage and prioritize the product backlog while balancing scientific needs, business value, platform standards, and technical constraints.
• Define integration strategies across Benchling and secondary internal applications to support consistent data flow and user experiences.
• Collaborate with developers on requirements handoff, configuration validation, demos, iterative refinement, and user acceptance testing.
• Track adoption and data-quality metrics, support rollout and onboarding, and drive continuous product improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, informatics, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience in pharmaceutical research, biotech, informatics, or a product-adjacent role.
• Hands-on experience using or administering Benchling and integrating it with secondary applications.
• Experience gathering and translating user requirements into structured system designs, data models, and technical documentation.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to lead workshops with scientific and technical stakeholders.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export control requirements.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in life sciences, informatics, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with assay development, process development, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, and laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience with business process mapping, cross-functional design workshops, fit-for-purpose data models, and industry standards.
• Experience creating user documentation and training materials, delivering training, or working with external implementation partners.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a matrixed environment with a collaborative and curious approach.
