Behavioral Health Care Manager I

Location: Virtual full-time role for candidates residing within commuting distance of the Durham or Winston-Salem, North Carolina posting locations; required in-person training sessions may apply. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm EST, with some flexibility.

What you will do

• Assess clinical needs related to provider requests for 1915i waiver services in collaboration with North Carolina Medicaid.
• Apply screening criteria, clinical judgment, and utilization management guidelines to determine access to medically necessary behavioral healthcare.
• Assess, coordinate, implement, and monitor member care plans.
• Evaluate outcomes and promote effective use of health benefits and community resources.

Requirements

• MA/MS in social work, counseling, or a related behavioral health field, or a nursing degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in facility-based or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse or substance use disorder treatment.
• Current, active, unrestricted clinical licensure in North Carolina, such as RN, LCSW, LCMHC, LPC, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist.
• Ability to reside within reasonable commuting distance of the posting locations, unless an accommodation is granted.
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal, problem-solving, facilitation, and analytical skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in case management or utilization management.
• Experience handling complex psychiatric and substance abuse cases.
