TL;DR
Senior RF Space Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Developing multifunction space systems for critical defense and commercial missions with an accent on RF payloads, systems architecture, requirements engineering, and hardware integration. Focus on modeling and simulation, communication link budgets, EMI/EMC reliability, mission design, and leading interdisciplinary technical solutions.

Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States. The role requires up to 10% domestic travel.

Salary: $141,500–$224,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area, the range is $176,000–$264,000 annually.

What you will do

  • Develop multifunction space systems from concept through implementation for defense and commercial missions.
  • Define system requirements, architectures, interfaces, integration plans, and implementation approaches.
  • Design and integrate RF payloads, electronics, and other hardware for space-based systems.
  • Perform system modeling, simulation, analysis, power assessments, and communication link budgets.
  • Collaborate with business development, systems, software, RF circuit, FPGA, and other engineering teams.
  • Work with government customers to develop system-level requirements and technical solutions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of systems engineering experience with a master's degree, or 12+ years with a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with payload and electronics design for space applications, including reliability and EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Experience with requirements definition and flow-down, interface definition, system test design and execution, and risk management.
  • Proficiency with RF and systems engineering tools including MATLAB, ADS, HFSS, and Genesys.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; a master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship is required. An active DoD TS/SCI clearance or the ability and willingness to obtain one is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with MBSE and tools such as Cameo.
  • Experience with satellite mission operations, including launch, in-orbit testing, and anomaly resolution.
  • Experience with STK and taking products from concept through prototyping, launch, and operation.
  • Experience leading space systems engineering teams, trade studies, and difficult technical architecture decisions.
