TL;DR
Senior RF Engineer II - Radar (Space-Based Radar/RF): Building and developing space-based radar systems, including SAR payloads, RF chains, calibration systems, and spacecraft integrations with an accent on radar architecture, waveform design, orbital analysis, and RF performance. Focus on designing radar modes and processing architectures, solving range/Doppler and interference challenges, and validating system performance through testing and calibration.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite at hirify.global's global headquarters. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance. U.S. Government ITAR authorization requirements apply.

Base salary: $141,800–$212,600 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $174,300–$269,875 USD annually.

Company

hirify.global is an end-to-end space company developing rockets, spacecraft, payloads, and critical subsystems for commercial, scientific, national security, and defense missions.

What you will do

  • Lead the technical development of space-based radar systems from architecture and prototyping through integration, testing, and flight development.
  • Define radar performance requirements, link budgets, payload trades, radar modes, timing, PRF selection, and RF chain designs.
  • Analyze radar performance, including range and Doppler resolution, SNR, ambiguity, interference, orbital effects, and mission revisit characteristics.
  • Design waveform and processing approaches, develop calibration strategies, and validate image quality for spaceborne radar systems.
  • Develop radar ground support equipment, test plans, procedures, and automated test systems; perform hands-on RF testing and characterization.
  • Support spacecraft integration, technical reviews, proposals, customer troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with bus subsystem and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience developing radar/RF systems for space applications.
  • Hands-on experience with space-based radar integration, mission operations, imaging modes, processing, and performance assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics, spacecraft systems, waveform design, pulse compression, Doppler processing, link budgets, linearity, and noise analysis.
  • Experience with radar simulation and orbital analysis tools such as MATLAB, STK, or custom codes, plus radar testing and RF performance characterization.
  • U.S. citizenship is required; ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance is required.

Nice to have

  • Existing DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Extensive experience with space-grade radar design and environmental testing.
  • Knowledge of advanced SAR techniques, including GMTI, InSAR, and polarimetry.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced environment focused on ambitious space missions, technical innovation, teamwork, and execution under tight deadlines.
  • Company stock and an Employee Stock Purchase Program with a 15% discount.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including HMO, PPO, and zero-cost HDHP options with an HSA contribution.
  • Paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match.
  • Additional benefits include subsidized EV charging, fitness and gym discounts, snacks and beverages, and employee discounts.
