Engineering Manager, Mortgage (AI/ML)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; expected to work from the office 3+ days a week. A relocation stipend may be available for relocation to a hirify.global hub.

Salary: $233,000–$274,000 USD annual base salary or on-target earnings for San Francisco, CA.

What you will do

• Lead approximately eight engineers building mortgage income and employment verification systems end to end.
• Own delivery and technical direction for the Mortgage Verifications team as the self-serve product moves through new launch phases.
• Drive team-wide AI adoption with guardrails, baselines, and measurable impact on engineering delivery.
• Co-own product direction with Product, shape problems, and align stakeholders on priorities.
• Lead platform modernization, feature delivery, and production incident response in a regulated, high-stakes environment.
• Grow engineers’ careers, hire senior and staff-level talent, and communicate team progress to product and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as an engineering manager and 8+ years as an engineer.
• Demonstrated experience rolling out AI adoption across an engineering team using measurable guardrails and baselines.
• Strong quantitative fluency, system design, architecture judgment, and prioritization skills.
• Experience co-owning product direction, shaping problems, and collaborating productively with Product.
• Experience leading production incidents at scale as both a technical and communications lead.
• Experience with regulated, high-stakes products where data accuracy and compliance matter, such as fintech, healthcare, or identity.
