EHS Business Partner (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Elk Grove Village, Illinois, United States; onsite at the manufacturing facility. Travel of up to 10–15% may be required for benchmarking and Kaizen activities at other facilities.

Salary: $115,000–$125,000 USD per year, plus eligibility for bonus pay.

What you will do

• Lead daily safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene activities across production, laboratories, and warehousing.
• Deliver hands-on training and coaching across all shifts to strengthen safety engagement and culture.
• Develop risk-based controls, measurable KPIs, Kamishibai layered process audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain OSHA and EPA written programs covering LOTO, HazCom, RCRA, respiratory protection, emergency response, and spill response.
• Oversee the safe handling, storage, transfer, and disposal of inks, solvents, and hazardous materials.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, emergency drills, and cross-functional EHS improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or another engineering or science-focused field.
• 5+ years of EHS experience in chemical, solvent, ink, coatings, or similar manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience working directly with operators and supervisors and building safety engagement.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910, RCRA hazardous waste, chemical safety, industrial hygiene, permitting, regulatory reviews, reporting, and record keeping.
• Experience with flammable liquid Class I, Division 1 safety and compliance regulations.
• Ability to work onsite in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, with up to 10–15% travel.

Nice to have

• ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, OSHA 30-Hour, or another EHS-related certification.
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor experience.
