Building Performance QA Specialist Lead

Location: Remote work based in the United States, with occasional travel of up to 25% to project sites and remote portfolios; fieldwork may be required.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annual range.

What you will do

• Coordinate energy assessor and quality assurance inspection teams, schedules, and assigned project sites.
• Inspect residential weatherization and HVAC measures for compliance with project specifications, regulations, and industry standards.
• Document inspection findings using standardized forms, photographs, and digital tools; report deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Build contractor relationships and support training on energy assessment, weatherization, contractor management, and program participation.
• Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and stakeholders to resolve quality issues and maintain inspection records.
• Train and mentor junior inspectors and provide technical guidance to inspection staff.

Requirements

• At least five years of combined experience in residential trades, nonprofit organizations, community organizing, environmental advocacy, energy efficiency, or project management.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is preferred.
• Building Performance Institute certification required, or the ability to obtain or renew it quickly.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong Microsoft Office, writing, reporting, presentation, public speaking, communication, and organizational skills.
• Availability to occasionally work evenings and weekends and travel for organizational or client needs.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Experience using a blower door, duct blaster, and flow plate.
