New Buildings Energy Performance Consultant

Location: Hybrid in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; must be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Salt Lake City area within 30 days of acceptance. Local and domestic travel of up to 30% is required.

Salary: $65,000–$85,000 base salary annually, with potential discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Build relationships with architects, engineers, planners, energy modelers, raters, builders, owners, and commercial real estate organizations.
• Promote high-performance building strategies and technologies through new construction utility programs.
• Maintain project and lead pipelines and support projects through completion.
• Audit complex buildings, evaluate building systems, and identify energy efficiency and sustainability opportunities.
• Build and review energy efficiency models using REM/Rate, eQUEST, EnergyPro, Trane Trace, and similar industry-standard tools.
• Support onsite and virtual measurement and verification of as-built performance after building commissioning.

Requirements

• Must be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Salt Lake City, Utah area within 30 days of acceptance.
• Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Architecture, or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience with energy-efficient building practices.
• Strong understanding of building systems, particularly lighting and HVAC, and sustainability practices.
• Extensive familiarity with commercial and multifamily construction and energy codes, including Utah IECC 2021 and Washington WAC 51-11C.
• Experience reading architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction drawings, plus proficiency with building simulation software.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with net-zero strategies, energy use intensity metrics, and Grid-Interactive Efficient Building capabilities.
• Experience with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• HERS Rater, BPI Building Analyst, LEED AP, or NGBS certification.
