Senior Firewall / Security Network Engineer (AWS/FortiGate)

What you will do

• Design and operate firewall and network-security architecture across on-premises data centers, AWS, OCI, and hybrid connectivity.
• Define secure routing, prefixes, firewall policies, NAT, ports, services, and TLS flows between cloud workloads and on-premises systems.
• Lead migrations from legacy Cisco and Juniper platforms to FortiGate, including policy review, rebuilds, cutovers, upgrades, refreshes, and decommissioning.
• Manage firewall changes through implementation, testing, rollback planning, and peer review.
• Resolve connectivity incidents involving dropped traffic, TLS handshakes, DNS, routing, VPNs, and firewall failovers.
• Maintain out-of-band management, monitoring, logging, SIEM forwarding, NetFlow, SNMP, and FortiAnalyzer integrations.

Requirements

• Hands-on FortiGate and FortiOS experience, including VDOMs, security policies, NAT, SSL inspection, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiConverter.
• Experience designing cloud network security for AWS, including Transit Gateway, VPC, and GWLB, and/or OCI, with hybrid on-premises connectivity.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across the full packet path, including traffic drops, TLS, DNS, routing, and VPN connectivity.
• Experience translating application, database, cloud, and security requirements into standardized firewall policies.
• Ability to collaborate with application, database, cloud, platform, SecOps, and infrastructure teams.
• Ability to work remotely from the UK.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI services or assistants for troubleshooting, configuration generation, or network-security tooling.
• Network automation experience with Ansible, AWX, or similar tools.
• Experience with SIEM, observability, NetFlow, SNMP, multi-site WAN, and data-center networking.
• Scripting experience with Python or similar languages.
• Exposure to security frameworks, audits, and misconfiguration remediation.
