Network Engineer (Network Security)

Location: Madrid, Spain, with a hybrid work model combining home and office days at ING MAD

What you will do

• Maintain and continuously improve secure, reliable, and high-performing internet proxy and remote access services.
• Co-create scalable network solutions with engineers, product managers, and infrastructure teams.
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network services, including Tier 3 support for complex incidents.
• Handle lifecycle management, incident resolution, reporting, service monitoring, and infrastructure transformation initiatives.
• Support security and risk management activities, including patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, out-of-hours changes, standby on-call activities, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience working with network technologies.
• Experience with enterprise networking and security solutions, including proxies, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, and Secure Service Edge technologies.
• Networking knowledge equivalent to CCNA or CCNP level, with a strong focus on security, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver high-quality results on time.
• Relevant IT capability, ideally supported by a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Excellent spoken and written English at C1 level.

Nice to have

• Experience with Check Point, Skyhigh, Palo Alto, F5, or Netskope.
• Experience with Python, Go, or PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with automation and infrastructure automation practices.
• Interest in mentoring, knowledge sharing, and team collaboration.
