Software Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Charlotte, NC; hybrid and flexible, not remote

Annual salary: $150,000–$170,000 based on experience, plus up to a 15% annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Ramp up as an individual contributor during the first 90 days by shipping code and serving as a technical project lead.
• Stay hands-on with full-stack development, model strong engineering practices, and contribute code when additional support is needed.
• Coach and delegate to engineers while improving planning, project breakdown, execution, and team effectiveness.
• Remove blockers, align teams around priorities, and encourage collaboration with product managers, designers, and subject-matter experts.
• Recruit engineers, own onboarding, and help experienced hires become productive and lead work within 90 days.
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted development throughout the software development lifecycle and provide direct, timely feedback.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience achieving results through coaching and delegation.
• Experience with some of Ruby on Rails, React, and SQL.
• Full-stack experience across front-end, back-end, and databases.
• Experience using AI-assisted development in a real engineering workflow, or genuine enthusiasm to develop this expertise quickly.
• Comfort working in a high-growth environment with shifting priorities and evolving scope, including driving significant change.

Hiring process

• Video interview with the hiring manager covering management, development, delegation, managing change, hands-on planning, review, coding, and AI in the SDLC.
• Onsite interview with engineers and Product and Design partners.
