Principal Data Scientist (Forecasting)

Location: Crossman Integrity Building, Sunnyvale, California, United States

Salary: $143,000–$286,000 annual base salary for the Sunnyvale location, with potential performance-based bonuses and stock compensation.

What you will do

• Build and improve large-scale demand forecasting models across item, store, and location levels.
• Apply regression, time-series analysis, probabilistic modeling, ensembling, and deep learning techniques.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on feature pipelines, model training workflows, and production deployment.
• Integrate promotions, events, and macroeconomic indicators into forecasting inputs.
• Monitor and evaluate models using dashboards, SQL, and Python to identify results and anomalies.
• Support responsible AI practices, including explainability, fairness, and data governance.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in analytics or a related field, or a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree with applicable experience.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with large datasets or cloud computing environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Knowledge of forecasting or time-series techniques and the ability to translate business problems into data science solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for explaining analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with R, Spark, Scala, Docker, MLOps tools, optimization models, or open-source machine learning frameworks.
• PhD, research publications, or active peer-review experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
