Senior Systems Engineer (Virtualization & Automation Engineer)

Location: Hybrid work at the East Aurora, NY facility or the Blacksburg, VA facility

Salary: $90,000–$125,000 annually for the Buffalo, NY location

What you will do

• Design, implement, modernize, and manage enterprise virtualization, server, storage, backup, and data protection platforms.
• Define virtualization strategy and future-state architecture, including platform evaluations, migrations, and lifecycle planning.
• Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code modules and templates with Terraform.
• Build automation solutions using PowerShell, Ansible, APIs, and related frameworks.
• Lead infrastructure projects from architecture and design through implementation and transition to operations.
• Embed security, governance, compliance, scalability, business continuity, and disaster recovery requirements into infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least five years of progressive experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure in complex global environments.
• Significant experience with VMware vSphere and enterprise virtualization technologies.
• Strong knowledge of compute, storage, networking, data center infrastructure, server resiliency, and disaster recovery.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform, and automation using PowerShell, Ansible, APIs, or similar tools.
• Access to U.S. export-controlled information is required for the position.

Nice to have

• Experience with Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Hyper-V, OpenShift Virtualization, or similar alternative platforms.
• Knowledge of ITIL, SAFe, or equivalent IT Service Management and Agile methodologies.
