Optical Associate, Non-Certified – Sam’s Club

Location: Onsite at 4100 W Willow Knolls Dr, Peoria, Illinois, United States

Salary: $20.00–$28.00 per hour, plus possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Stock, organize, price, secure, and maintain merchandise displays and the Optical sales floor.
• Assist members with eyewear and contact lens purchases, prescription verification, orders, payments, returns, and refunds.
• Measure pupillary distance and position of wear, adjust and repair frames, and complete final inspections of eyewear.
• Support contact lens insertions, removals, hygiene guidance, trial lens inventory, and equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Schedule and confirm appointments, support optometrist services and pre-testing, collect payments, and maintain HIPAA-compliant records.
• Communicate with laboratories and optometrists regarding job status, product updates, expired lenses, and non-adapt issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent at entry or within 12 months of hire.
• Meet applicable requirements for working as an Optical associate, including state registration, certification, or licensure where required.
• Obtain American Board of Opticianry certification within 15 months of hire or job entry.
• Register and maintain an NPI number where required by state law.
• In licensed or registered states, complete apprenticeship requirements and obtain required optician licensure within the applicable state deadlines.
• Experience in a healthcare or retail setting is preferred.
