Licensed Optician (Optical)

Location: Sumter, South Carolina, United States; onsite, part-time role.

Starting pay: $33.00 per hour. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is advertised separately from the hourly rate.

What you will do

• Dispense spectacles and other optical products for adults and children using prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists.
• Verify prescription data, read prescriptions on a lensometer, take measurements, select suitable frames, and advance orders through the optical system.
• Provide in-person and telephone member service, explain exam-fee procedures, recommend products, and support sales and service goals.
• Notify members when products are ready, complete dispensing and payment transactions, and maintain accurate order records.
• Adjust and repair eyeglasses, assist with opening and closing procedures, and follow privacy, HIPAA, safety, and club policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized optical area and deliver daily customer-service and merchandising standards.

Requirements

• Active optician license required for the state of South Carolina.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma, college degree, or experience in wholesale, retail, or optical settings preferred.
• Ability to move frequently, use optical hand tools, and lift objects up to 20 pounds; heavier objects may require assistance.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
