Electrical and Instrument Technician (Power Plant)

What you will do

• Maintain, diagnose, install, and repair electrical equipment, instrumentation, control circuits, and power plant machinery.
• Perform preventive, scheduled, and corrective maintenance on equipment ranging from 110V to 115KV, including motors, switchgear, MCC controls, pumps, fans, conveyors, and shredders.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Continuous Emissions Monitoring and Continuous Opacity Monitoring systems.
• Install conduits and wiring, terminate electric motors up to 4160V, calibrate control devices, and use PLC ladder logic for troubleshooting.
• Investigate breakdowns through root-cause analysis, prioritize work according to plant production requirements, and document activities in the ALM maintenance management system.
• Support plant operations through on-call work, overtime, equipment operation, and cross-disciplinary maintenance activities.

Requirements

• At least three years of industrial plant experience repairing and maintaining high-voltage electrical equipment and electronic instrumentation/control systems.
• High school diploma and a valid driver’s license.
• Electrical journeyman’s license or solid technical experience; ability to obtain Massachusetts 1C/2C/3A hoisting licenses quickly.
• Knowledge of PLCs, Foxboro I/A DCS, VFDs, CEM/COM systems, control valves, transmitters, switchgear, motors, relay logic, and process control systems.
• Ability to work safely in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and wet plant conditions; climb ladders and work at heights with fall protection, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform manual labor.
• Must be able to work rotating on-call schedules, nights, weekends, holidays, and extensive overtime during planned or unplanned maintenance.
