Principal Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)

Location: Remote, open to nearshore candidates in Latin America aligned with U.S. business hours

What you will do

• Architect and implement production lakehouse platforms on Microsoft Fabric or Databricks using Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion layers.
• Build ingestion pipelines for databases, SaaS systems, files, events, and APIs using batch, micro-batch, and streaming patterns.
• Design real-time data solutions with Fabric Real-Time Intelligence, Databricks Structured Streaming, Azure Event Hubs, Kafka, or CDC.
• Define workspace, capacity, governance, security, lineage, and Data Agent enablement strategies.
• Expose curated data through APIs and lead semantic modeling, Power BI dashboards, and self-service analytics.
• Set data engineering standards, mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and drive CI/CD, testing, observability, and cost management.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, including production data platforms and pipelines.
• Deep hands-on production experience with either Microsoft Fabric or Databricks and the ability to evaluate trade-offs between them.
• Strong experience with SQL Server, Server Replication, Power BI semantic models, DAX, and Direct Lake or Databricks SQL.
• Strong PySpark, Python, and SQL skills, including T-SQL and/or Spark SQL or ANSI SQL.
• Production experience with streaming ingestion, medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, APIs, governance, reliability, idempotency, and lineage.
• Advanced English at C1 level or higher is required.
