Data Engineer / Senior Data Engineer (Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric)

Location: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Latvia, Poland, Romania, or Serbia. Remote, hybrid, and onsite work formats are available.

What you will do

• Design and develop data ingestion pipelines from business systems into a governed cloud data platform.
• Build scalable data engineering solutions with Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
• Implement medallion architecture patterns, reusable engineering frameworks, curated data products, and analytical datasets.
• Support the migration of reporting and analytics workloads from legacy SQL Server environments.
• Apply AI-assisted development practices while maintaining quality, governance, and auditability.
• Provide platform design guidance, establish engineering standards, review code, and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
• Experience with Delta Lake, production lakehouse or medallion architectures, and SQL Server environments.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines for data solutions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with technical and business stakeholders. Experience with architecture decisions, code reviews, engineering standards, requirements gathering, and stakeholder collaboration is required.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Microsoft or Databricks data engineering certifications.
• Experience with dimensional modelling, semantic modelling, Power BI, Microsoft Purview, data lineage, or metadata management.
• Experience in regulated financial services environments.
