Principal Engineer I (Azure)

Location: Phoenix, AZ, United States; up to 25% travel may be required.

What you will do

• Serve as a subject matter expert for Common Services platforms supporting customer reconciliation, statements, reporting, and mission-critical money movement.
• Design, build, enhance, and document secure solutions across workload automation, managed file transfer, messaging, API integration, observability, and event management platforms.
• Provide technical leadership for cross-functional engineering teams, review solution designs, guide lower-level engineers, and develop the skills of a junior engineer.
• Lead complex production deployments, releases, cutovers, and operational readiness activities with minimal business disruption.
• Build performance measurement dashboards and technical documentation, including physical and logical solution layouts and operating procedures.
• Design cloud-native solutions, preferably with Azure, and troubleshoot Azure Functions, serverless integrations, and cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

• 8+ years of related experience supporting enterprise, mission-critical banking platforms, integration technologies, cloud services, automation, and regulated technology operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Advanced expertise in cross-functional leadership, multiple project delivery, banking domains, governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, and enterprise architecture.
• Working knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, event-driven architectures, APIs, secure file transfer, distributed systems, and mission-critical middleware.
• Experience with enterprise platforms such as workload automation, managed file transfer, messaging, API integrations, and observability systems.
• Advanced speaking and writing communication skills; experience with Azure, relational databases, scripting, CI/CD, and agile delivery is preferred.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or MBA.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, SQL Server or Oracle, PowerShell, Python, Perl, CI/CD, and agile development.
• Advanced knowledge of financial services, banking, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Previous leadership experience.
