Control And Automation Engineer-in-Training

Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, with work in the office and at project job sites, including remote site locations. Travel to project sites is required.

What you will do

• Prepare control and automation engineering deliverables for complex projects.
• Develop instrumentation and control design criteria, P&IDs, engineering lists, cable schedules, material take-offs, and installation drawings.
• Create procurement packages, technical bid evaluations, vendor data reviews, control philosophies, functional descriptions, and control system architectures.
• Program PLC and/or DCS systems and develop factory and software acceptance test procedures.
• Support senior engineers and designers through design reviews, quality reviews, site inspections, and walkdowns.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to office- and site-based project delivery.

Requirements

• Working toward graduation in 2027 or recently graduated with a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Interest in control systems engineering and communication systems.
• Ability to understand engineering and business fundamentals and apply them to projects.
• Technical experience with control systems design, databases, programming, data-centric design tools, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Previous co-op or work-term experience in controls, automation, or electrical engineering design and execution.
