Junior Electrical Designer

Location: Saskatoon, SK, Canada; travel to office, construction, and remote project sites is required

What you will do

• Prepare and maintain electrical engineering deliverables, contract drawings, records, and technical documentation.
• Develop 2D electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, loop drawings, schematics, interconnection diagrams, and instrument layouts.
• Develop and check 3D models using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Perform electrical calculations and prepare engineering lists, P&IDs, MCC configurations, control panel arrangements, and material take-offs.
• Coordinate designs with engineers and designers from other disciplines and support vendor package interfaces.
• Assist with design reviews, quality reviews, site inspections, walkdowns, procurement packages, power system modeling, and PLC/DCS programming as opportunities arise.

Requirements

• Working toward graduation in 2027 or recently graduated with an Electrical Engineering Technician or Technologist diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation for 2D and 3D design.
• Knowledge of electrical system design for industrial facilities, the Canadian Electrical Code, and ISA standards.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites, including remote locations.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower for power system modeling and design.
• Experience or interest in PLC and DCS programming.
• Understanding of regional electrical codes and standards such as CSA, NEC, and IEC.
