Control and Automation, Electrical Designer

Location: Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, with work from the Sudbury office and travel to office, construction, and remote project sites.

Salary: CAD 62,000–65,000 per year, plus potential performance-based incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Prepare and maintain electrical and instrumentation engineering deliverables, contract drawings, records, and technical documentation.
• Design 2D deliverables such as single-line diagrams, loop drawings, interconnection diagrams, instrument layouts, and schematics.
• Develop and review 3D models using MicroStation and AutoCAD in an integrated CAD environment.
• Complete electrical calculations, P&IDs, engineering lists, MCC configurations, and control panel arrangements.
• Coordinate designs with engineers and designers from other disciplines, including vendor package interfaces and design reviews.
• Support senior engineers and designers through quality reviews, site inspections, walkdowns, and project delivery activities.

Requirements

• Working toward graduation in 2027 or recently graduated with an Electrical Engineering Technician or Technologist diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation for 2D and 3D design.
• Knowledge of electrical system design for industrial facilities.
• Good knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and ISA standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel to office, construction, and remote project sites.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of power system modeling tools such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower.
• Experience or interest in PLC and DCS programming.
• Knowledge of procurement packages, equipment specifications, technical bid evaluations, or vendor data review.
