Operations Support Engineer (Satellite Ground Systems)

Location: Longmont, Colorado, United States. This position requires U.S. person status and willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Salary: $59,000–$78,000–$85,800 annually in Colorado.

What you will do

• Schedule backend ground systems, antennas, and related resources with external vendors to meet mission contact requirements.
• Provide operational coverage across rotating day, swing, overnight, weekend, and standard office-hour shifts.
• Monitor system health, analyze telemetry and operational data, and identify anomalies and escalation paths.
• Coordinate investigations and resolution of hardware, software, antenna, and system-integration issues.
• Track maintenance, corrective actions, upgrades, system degradations, and operational risks through resolution.
• Develop metrics, dashboards, operational tools, cloud capabilities, processes, procedures, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or four additional years of relevant experience in place of the degree.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues and investigate unfamiliar technical problems.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams, customers, and external vendors in time-sensitive operational environments.
• Availability for rotating day, swing, overnight, weekend, and standard office-hour shifts.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite operations, satellite ground systems, antennas, or antenna-associated ground equipment.
• Experience scheduling ground systems, antenna resources, mission contacts, or other constrained technical resources.
• Linux and programming or scripting experience with Python, Ruby, Java, or a similar language.
• AWS cloud architecture experience and familiarity with Kibana, Elasticsearch, GitHub, or CI/CD platforms.
• Strong customer communication and technical writing skills.
