IT Network Engineer II - Launch (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at the Wallops, Virginia East Coast Launch Facility; U.S. citizenship or equivalent ITAR authorization required

Salary: $75,200–$94,000 USD base pay per year, plus potential stock and cash incentives

What you will do

• Resolve complex escalated issues across network infrastructure, systems, and integrations.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to maintain the performance and availability of critical IT systems.
• Deploy, upgrade, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network infrastructure.
• Implement infrastructure standards for launch environments, including security compliance, automation, documentation, cost control, and high availability.
• Collaborate with IT, engineering, and business teams to design, deploy, and optimize infrastructure solutions.
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7/365 Launch Mission Operations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a network-focused technology role, plus a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 6+ years of work experience may substitute.
• Hands-on experience deploying networking hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Strong understanding of network security, architecture design, technical standards, troubleshooting tools, multicasting, and VLAN switching.
• In-depth knowledge of at least one of Fortinet firewalls with Juniper or Cisco switches, enterprise network administration, network monitoring and packet capture, or Linux/Windows system administration.
• U.S. citizenship or eligibility for the required ITAR authorizations is required.

Nice to have

• Linux, CCNA, AWS, Microsoft, or Azure qualifications.
• Experience with mass device deployment, infrastructure as code, Puppet, Ansible, or other automation frameworks.
• Experience with Python, Shell, Bash, Prometheus, Grafana, or InfluxDB.
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
