TL;DR
Data Systems / Network Engineer (Aerospace): Supporting flight-related networking, computer, telemetry, and data systems for hypersonic test missions with an accent on network architecture, operational testing, and mission support. Focus on administering complex aircraft and vehicle networks, troubleshooting mission-critical connectivity, maintaining configuration-controlled systems, and deploying secure infrastructure across flight, control room, and simulator environments.

Location: On-site in Mojave, California, United States; domestic and international travel required as needed, estimated at less than 30%.

Base salary by level: $101,000–$146,500 for Level II, $120,500–$158,000 for Senior level, or $157,000–$206,000 for Staff level.

What you will do

  • Contribute to data and telemetry system architecture, testing, and operation for local and extended-range missions.
  • Prepare data-system assets for flight tests and provide networking support during missions and operations.
  • Own and administer corporate, aircraft, vehicle, control-room, and simulator networks, including switches, routers, firewalls, WiFi, NAC, cloud networking, load balancers, RF equipment, and VoIP.
  • Develop and maintain software tools, telemetry tests, network tests, documentation, diagrams, and change-control records.
  • Deploy and manage servers and workstations, perform upgrades and emergency security updates, and troubleshoot complex network and computer issues.
  • Travel to launch and recovery sites and act as a networking escalation point during tests and missions.

Requirements

  • Experience with data, telemetry, and network engineering in operational or test environments.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet troubleshooting, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Aruba, and Aruba ClearPass in GUI and CLI environments.
  • Experience with BGP, OSPF, STP, IPsec, NAT, AAA, 802.1X, network monitoring, packet capture, traffic analysis, and Wireshark.
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and VMware virtualization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 2–5 years for Level II, 5–10 years for Senior level, or 10–20 years for Staff level.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship may be required for certain government-cleared or restricted positions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with IEEE 802.3 and IRIG-106 standards, Mission Control Center console operations, BASH, Python, Cisco Call Manager, ClearCom, RF analysis, or an existing security clearance.
